Daddy and Ty are always having fun together and creating new games to play. I call this one "Human Burritos". I had a lot of fun watching and documenting their game unfold...or rather get folded - tee hee. I was able to get clearer pictures when Jamie was rolling up Ty because he would go slower, but when Ty rolled up Daddy he wasn't so cooperative, so the pictures may be a little fuzzy, but if anything true to life.

Group Swimming: Take 2

The first group swimming class turned out to be a little too big, so we switched for the rest of his lessons to a smaller class with the same teacher. Ty missed his friend Ella, but he still had a blast!

Group Swimming: Take 1

We put him in his first group swimming class this winter with his friend Ella and Ty just loved it! Ty loved his teacher Carolina and being with his friend Ella. Out of all the kids he was the most adventurous or fearless. He just went for it! His favorite is to jump into the water to his teacher. Now he is taking a once a week private lesson with Teacher Tyler (pics coming soon). Ty loves his new teach and he is progressing rapidly with the one-on-one instruction! We are excited to test out his new skills this summer up at Nana and Papa's cabin!

Scuba Steve

After we got back from our Caribbean cruise over Spring Break (to celebrate our 10 year anniversary this September), Jamie and I left our snorkel gear out in the living room and Ty discovered it and had fun trying it on. I couldn't help but think of that movie "Big Daddy" where they have that character Scuba Steve... Ty is our Snorkel Ty. Not as catchy of a name as Scuba Steve, but definitely way cuter!

I hope you are reading the title like you are singing that Aerosmith song, "Pink!" PINK IS MY FAVORITE COLOR! Or in this case, Ty's favorite color is GREEN! When asked why? Ty replied, "Because Green means GO!" Can I just say that is just so appropriate for him. He is a kid that is constantly on the go in every way. Back to green...everything is green. At swimming lessons he wants the green noodle, at meals he wants the green dishes and when he colors he colors all in green as you can see below. The list goes on to include: green jellybeans, broccoli, crayons, gum. If it's green Ty will love it.

Cleaning Up His Toys

After being asked to put his toys away one night, Ty got creatively sneaky and used his onesie pajamas as his toy chest. We didn't find out until we heard him walking around...every time he walked it would clank. That is when he unzipped his pajamas to reveal his toys. There were so many, it was hilarious! The best part was that he pulled out his little toy hammer first. It was priceless!

Anasazi Ridge Petroglyphs

We took Ty on the longest hike he has ever done so far while we were down in Utah to see Anasazi Indian petroglyphs. We took the Tempi'po'op Trail, which is a really well maintained trail that takes you up to a rocky ridge where you can search for the rock drawings the Anasazi did many years ago. Ty did amazing on the way up, he needed very little help and only a few breaks ("I need a break!" see below picture of him sitting on the trail). Once we got up to the top we had a blast climbing the rocks and searching for all of the rock drawings. The drawings were impressive almost as much as Ty's stamina!

Ty's Haircut

Normally, Jamie or I will cut Ty's hair, but since we were down in Utah and Ty's was pretty scraggly and his bed-head hair was getting hard to tame, we thought it would be fun to get it professionally done. Ty did great...only a little hesitation at the beginning, but the hairstylist was wonderful (and it helped that she had candy to bribe him with too). What a handsome guy!

Petrified Dunes

Another one of our favorite places to explore and hike is at the Petrified Dunes in Snow Canyon Park. Aunt Melinda and her hubby Landan came with us to explore this time around. It was their first time, so it was fun to introduce them to it.

Rock Climber

On this exploring trip we did lots of climbing. The main reason being that Ty loves to climb. He is a natural climber and he has no fear, which is a little scary, so we always have to make sure we are right with him because he will take on any rock. To show you have funny he is, he actually yelled out "I'm the best rock climber in the world!" while he was climbing up a big rock.

Red Rock Walkabout

After Daddy arrived in St. George, we would go on outdoor adventures even more! One of our favorite spots to hike around and explore is a Red Rock area just off the main road. We always end up visiting more than once and we always find new places that we haven't seen before and old ones that have become our favorites. It is fun to see how much Ty is able to walk and climb around on his own this year, compared to last year! Our little man is growing up too fast!

For The Birds

We went down to St. George for a couple weeks like we did last year to visit Nana and Papa at their winter home. We loved the milder weather (compared to Washington) and took advantage of getting outside as much as we could! One of those adventures took us to a park and nature preserve where Ty acted like a bird, fed some birds and then helped Papa look for birds to take pictures of - aka: Ty chasing birds out of picture range to get them to cooperate.

Sunbeam Smile

In January Ty graduated from his church "toy class" (which is what he called nursery) and moved on to Junior Primary. Now he is with the big kids, which for Ty is definitely not as fun as "toy class", but he is adjusting pretty well. I've heard from his teachers (who gave him this crown on his first Sunday in class - Prince Ty) that he is wiggly and giggly and likes to make people laugh. That is our little guy - always trying to make people smile and always on the move! We our so proud of our sunbeam!

Every December Jamie's work rents out the carousel downtown for a couple hours for all of the employees and their families. You get to ride the carousel over and over for free and Ty just loves it! Ty also got to sit on Santa's knee and tell him that he wanted a dinosaur puzzle for Christmas. Ty loved the candy canes Santa gave him and we would have to agree that he was the most enthusiastic kid in line to see Santa. Ty would say "Hi Santa!" over and over until we got to the front of the line. It was so cute! P.S. Santa did bring him a dinosaur puzzle!

We had fun trick-or-treating in Portland with Jamie's siblings and all of their kids. Ty was a dinosaur. Emma was a poodle. Cameron was a Ninja. Taylor was a princess. Charly was Little Red Riding Hood. Brett, Owen and Graham were The Chipmunks - Alvin, Simon and Theodore! Bella was a witch. Phew! I think that's everyone...oh wait and Grandpa was Superman! We went to Portland to celebrate Halloween with Jamie's family. One of our stops was at the OMSI Museum. We saw a submarine, a huge T-Rex skeleton and all the cousins had a great time in the OMSI children's area where they had fun getting wet, playing in sand, examining bugs and lots of other fun things.

We had a blast running around a local park, riding tractors and playing on the playground with Ty's friends Elliott and Landon and with Mommy's friend Shelci. We couldn't resist getting Ty his BIG birthday present early this year. We got a good deal and we were too excited to wait until his birthday to give him his new train set. We anticipated that there might be the usual "so excited that Ty starts shaking" and we weren't disappointed! It was fun watching Ty discover his OWN train table. He always wants to go to Barnes & Noble or Toys R Us to play on their tables, so now he has one 24-7! Lucky boy!

Little Hiker

We picked the perfect day for a hike in the nearby mountains. It was a great trail for Ty to walk too because it was well maintained. Ty was a master! He was running half the time! At one point we were going up switchbacks and he made it all the way up on his own! What an amazing little hiker we have!

When we would come across bridges like this Ty would pretend he was the Grumpy Old Troll from Dora the Explorer. And there were a lot of little bridges, and at every one Ty would say "Solve My Riddle!" just like on the show. And we mostly just sang songs instead of solving riddles, but it was still super cute!

Catch Phrase

Ty has many catch phrases including, "What's your name?" to everyone we pass in the store, "Who we going to see today?" which he says at least once every day and "It's a sunny day!" which is said before and after naptime/bedtime. But this photo is all about his phrase, "You want to play with me?" and in this instance it is directed at Ty's Great Grandpa who came to visit for two months of the summer. They had a lot of fun getting to know each other better and Ty always had to say something about Grandpa's itchies (moustache) when he got a hug.

Aunt Melinda and Ty had some fun playing with this collapsible tunnel trying to fit both of them inside of it. It made for a lot of laughs and entertainment. After the tunnel, they moved on to hide and seek and Ty's little size was to his advantage because he fit into our blanket basket which was so cute that we had to hide again for Daddy when he came home from work so he could enjoy the cuteness too!

Our little family went camping a few hours south for the weekend. We stopped by a dam on a nearby river to check out the fish ladder before we got to camp. At camp, Daddy and Ty had fun in the boat, but the water was a little too cold still for swimming even though Ty really wanted to go. There was a play area where Ty made a couple of friends and it was a nice little trip, even though we got hit with rain and had to head home a little earlier than planned.

Resort Fun

We went with some family friends to a nearby resort and waterpark for an overnight stay. Laura and I drove over with Ty and Ella early so we could get in some waterpark time. Jamie and Jared joined us later after they got off work. The next morning, after some yummy blueberry pancakes, we went to the waterpark again all together and enjoyed the rest of the day there.

We had so much fun taking Ty to the zoo for the first time. We stayed with my sister, who also loved having some quality time with her nephew while we had a couple of date nights. It was a very fun trip and Ty can't wait to visit the zoo again!

Ty is really into trucks right now. He especially loves his truck book that has pictures of construction, farm and city vehicles - it has a dump truck on the cover, so Ty calls it his "dump truck" book. As we drive down the street he is constantly pointing out by name "excavators, bulldozers, forklifts, tractors, cement trucks..." You get the idea. It is the cutest thing because he says it in his little scratchy voice. He loves his electric-powered ATV that he can ride to the park and back. He also loves to ride in Daddy's new truck/jeep. Look at the pure glee on his face after we did a little off-roading at a local park.

Green Beret

We were visiting one of our friends who happens to be a Green Beret and so all of his gear was laying out and Ty was immediately fascinated with it, in particular the backpack. (He likes Dora the Explorer, so of course he knows how cool backpacks are!) Andrew was kind enough to let him try it on and then Ty got to ride around in Andrew's big duffle backpack...you heard me right. He was IN it. Ty loved playing with all of Andrew's gear!

Mexican Food

Nana treated Mommy and Ty to lunch one day. He loved the chips and salsa and the treat at the end (which is what is in the photos). It was hard to keep him sitting still, so it ended up being a pretty short lunch, but still fun and definitely memorable!

CARS

Every night before bed Ty gets to pick at least one book to read. One of his favorites is his Cars book and he just happens to be wearing his Cars pj's while reading his Cars book! (Thanks Nana and Papa for the great gifts!)

Tourists and Travellers

We were able to drive over to Las Vegas early one day so that we could take in a few of the sites before we flew home on Ty's first airplane ride! We had fun visiting the Mandalay Bay Aquarium where Ty got to see sharks, a huge octopus and turtles, among other things. We walked and walked and walked down the main strip. It was surprising cool and rainy, so we used my scarf and Jamie's coat to keep Ty warm in his stroller. We got to see the inside of the Venetian which was amazing with the sky-like ceilings and water canals. One of our favorites was the Bellagio fountains that play along with the music. Ty had such a busy day! Car trip, bus shuttle, airport tram and then an airplane ride. He was a great traveller and was so excited to get on the airplane and then once we got him in his seat, before we even took off, he fell asleep!

Red Rock Adventure

We decided to check out this cool area right off the main road where you can climb and hike and explore. One of the photos we tried to make it look like Ty was actually free-climbing the side of the rock (Daddy's idea of course) and it turned out cute. It ended up being a really fun place to explore and a great view of the city.

4-H Animals

We were able to bike over to this lot nearby that housed all the 4-H animals for the local high school. Ty loved to see the pigs, sheep, horse, rabbits and chickens. He tried to feed them grass and other things. The picture where the sheep are looking at Ty, but Ty is not looking at them is one of our favorites.

Nana and Papa have a place close to Snow Canyon State Park, so we felt so lucky that we were able to have fun day trips there often while we were visiting. This is a great scenic viewpoint.

Carousel

In early January, Ty and Mommy took a trip down to Southern Utah with Nana and Papa. One of our stops was at a place that had a carousel. Ty LOVED it and he got to ride it at least 4 times I think. He wanted to try a new horse every time!

Little Drummer Boy

In Ty's case it is four apples in a day. He got caught getting into the fruit bowl and decided to take a bite out of each of the apples. We are guessing his agenda was to let us all know that they were his apples and we better leave them alone! At least they are healthy right?!?

Trolley Ride

Ty was actually quite reluctant to get onto this trolley ride. It is so low-key and slow it is pretty funny that he was even worried. It also only lasts like 20 seconds. We were able to get him on there only after he saw other kids get on and then I think I even got in there (which was quite interesting) until finally he decided to try it and of course LOVED it and wanted to do it over and over and over...

I was sure happy that they were so excited to play "naptime"...I only wish they had actually napped. The nap was quite short lived as they were up on their feet within 30 seconds of this photo being taken. These cute kids are always on the move! So much energy!

"Fix It" Horse

Ty loves his rocking horse! It makes noises when you press either of the ears which Ty loves to imitate! However, he doesn't ride it as much as he "fixes" it. Ty likes to copy daddy and find some type of "tool" (any toy or object on the ground that resembles a screwdriver) and he will use the tool to "FIX IT!" as he likes to say. He will lay the horse on its side and find where the screw is and pretend to unscrew and screw it. So smart!

Birthday Boy

Ty turned two on Halloween and so he got lots of sugar that day! We had pizza...which is one of his favorites and then we sang Happy Birthday and he loved blowing out his candle (he has had practice doing it at Nana and Papa's house...he likes to help Nana blow out her candles). Then we opened his many gifts and he was literally shaking with excitement with each present he opened. Cake and ice cream followed (Mommy made a car cake because Ty loves the movie CARS). It was a lot of fun and we are so glad Auntie Melinda and Uncle Landan and Nana and Papa could help us celebrate it! Happy 2nd Birthday Ty! We love you!

Halloween 2009

Ty is getting bigger and he can now do trick or treating! Ty practiced learning/saying the "trick or treat" phrase during the entire month of October so he would be a pro by the time Halloween rolled around! We would even put him in his costume so he could get used to it too! It worked brilliantly! When we did the Church Trunk or Treat and the handful of houses in our neighborhood he rocked it! Ty knocked on doors and said "trick or treat" and if allowed he would help himself to the basket of candy. He always said "thank you" and more than once he tried to help people close their doors when he was done. He had to be the cutest TYger we've ever seen!

GUM MONSTER!

Unfortunately, we don't have a photo yet to document Ty's love for gum or more importantly what he will do to get gum in his mouth. We thought it might be fun for us to describe one of our most recent stories and then you can create the imagery on your own.

It was morning and the normal noises of breakfast and getting ready were broken by a sudden quietness. Quiet + Ty = Mischief. I had only stepped away for a minute to use the bathroom and when I came out to the quiet I saw an overturned laundry basket with at least 10 gum wrappers strewn around it. There amidst the wrappers was Ty with a mouthful of green mint gum. In a matter of minutes he had found a ladder of sorts (overturned basket) and reached the gum that was on our bedroom dresser. He consumed every remaining piece of gum in the package and with that scene before me I just couldn't get mad...all I could do was laugh, admire his very minty breath, and hide the rest of the gum in the house!

Missing Camera...

The digital camera went temporarily missing one day and when I checked the photos it turns out Mr. Ty figured out how to turn it on and take a picture of himself. I wonder how he liked the flash?! This photo was the result and we think that with the wash out effect and dark nostrils he kind of resembles Voldemort...

Dip It

Dip It...Dip It Good! That would have to be one of Ty's many philosophies. Ty loves to dip his food. Nuggets into ketchup. Toast into oatmeal. Cookies into milk. He is an all opportunity dipper.

Hello Mouth!

One day after work Jamie and Ty were goofing around (which is a daily occurrence) and then Ty started to pat Jamie's belly and then moved on to being fascinated with Jamie's mouth. He started saying "mouth" repeatedly and then moved on to saying "hello" into Jamie's mouth like he was trying to talk to someone down in the his throat. It was so funny! Aunt Melinda used to nanny once a week for Gracie and her brother and sister. Ty and I would sometimes visit. Ty would always say "Meena and Gracie!" when he knew we were on our way to visit. Here are some photos from one of those visits.

Downtown Park

We went downtown to enjoy a community event and Ty had fun on the playground. He always makes friends wherever he goes! Ty loves to talk to people and sit by them. Such a friendly guy!

Children's Museum

It was a cooler summer Saturday so we decided to do something indoors. We went to the local Children's Museum and Ty got to play on all sorts of fun things. He enjoyed the area for kids 3 and under where he got to play with toys, but he also had fun venturing outside of that area to play with all the older kid exhibits.

Lake Fun

Mommy and Ty went up to Nana and Papa's cabin for the day during the middle of the week to enjoy some sunshine and water. Ty had fun watching Papa floating on the lake and he even ventured in and did some floating of his own. There was lots of playing in the sand with Nana and we even were lucky enough to have the beach all to ourselves!

Diaper Buddies

Friends that wear the same diapers are friends for life. Isn't that a famous quote somewhere? This scene with Ty, Max and Henry in their diapers holding their beloved fruit snacks was too cute to pass up. It is funny to see the subtle changes in their facial expressions in each picture. I also love how one of the twins has his arm on Ty's back. So much love!
